I've heard about the "get paid to read email", and this hasn't worked for me in the past. But a sure way to make money online is through the power of blogging.

You can start by opening a free website at http://www.blogger.com/, and posting valuable information on your website. Remember, the more useful information you are able to gather, the greater your chances of being targeted.
2. Open a free google adsense account at www.google.com/adsense/, or any other free program that will not require registration fee
